Susan Westlake, We first came to South Salem Animal Hospital 15 years ago for a second opinion on why our wonderful dog Heidi was scratching herself raw, a problem our then-existing vet was unable to figure out. Dr. Jeffery Hubsher examined Heidi, and while all tests he performed on Heidi also came back negative, he told us his gut feeling was that she did have something he tested for, and it simply hadn’t shown up, as is sometimes the case. He treated her for mites or whatever it was he though she had, and she was cured. He was interested in seeing that Heidi found relief, and it was absolutely clear that he truly cared. I changed to Dr. Hubsher that day, and since that time he has taken excellent care of all of our dogs- Heidi and Frisky, now deceased, and Shaq, still gracing our home with doggy love at age 15. Dr. Hubsher has my unqualified admiration and appreciation. Kudos too to Kym, Nancy, Liz, and all of the wonderful people at South Salem Animal Hospital.
Beverly Reid We have been clients of South Salem Animal Hospital and Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital for about 20 years. They have cared for all of our dogs and cat. The vets and staff are trained to deal with the various temperaments to make the visit easier and safer. I can’t say enough about the care. My animals have (and are) living longer and having healthier lives. When our dogs come home from surgery, a follow up call is always made. They are also there to help ease your fears when you just don’t understand and you need the facts explained again or just reassurance. Having to say goodbye to our animals over the years has been emotional and always difficult. The compassion of the vets and staff is incredible. They handle the situation with grace and dignity. It is like they feel your pain and sorrow. My older Golden is 13. She has pulled through 3 cancer operations in the last 3 years. Each one has a difficult decision to make. Teddybear is still the same happy, fun loving dog. She is here today because of the care she received.

Kim Peters After nearly 24 years and a move over an hour away, I still bring my dog (my third) to Dr. Hubsher and his friends. They have never failed to be there when I needed them. One year just before Christmas, Emmy devoured the backbone of a deer carcass and all the little vertebra got stuck in her intestines. I would have lost Emmy that Christmas if it hadn’t been for Dr. Hubsher’s constant care. That is something I will never, ever forget. But aside from the care for my dog, I think the best evidence of the kind of clinic SSAH is came when I hit a raccoon with my car. I was devastated. We got him into the car and brought him over to SSAH. Most places would have turned me away- especially with a raccoon, but not these guys. Dr. H took him in, gave him a painkiller and an x-ray. Unfortunately, his back was broken and he was humanely euthanized thus proving once again that no matter whether the animal is domestic or wild they are all God’s creatures and therefore deserving all our compassion and best efforts. The doctors and staff at SSAH have never once deviated from that philosophy. Is there any wonder why I still drive over an hour to be with the best?

Pamela Nelson I first met Dr. Hubsher and the South Salem Animal Hospital last fall, when my elderly dog, Max, became very ill I had already been to two vets. I left both appointments doubtful and worried. Dr. Hubsher’s approach to Max’s problem was quite different. He took his time examining Max and asking me questions Dr. Hubsher came in early to make time to see him, even though we were not clients at the time. Dr. Hubsher then proposed a sequence of procedures that took into account first and foremost Max’s comfort and well-being, but also my pocketbook. Max’s recovery was slow but complete, and Dr. Hubsher followed his progress carefully and thoroughly every step of the way. What impresses me most about Dr. Hubsher is his approach to a medical problem, which goes beyond the lab values and even his considerable experience, to utilize intelligence and careful thought. Dr. Hubsher saved my dog a great deal of discomfort through the diagnosing and treating of his infection, and he has continued to do so through Max’s old age and all of the aches and pains and medical problems that go along with that. I have come to trust his judgment completely. Dr. Richards, a veterinarian at South Salem Animal Hospital is also competent, experienced, and intelligent. In addition the technicians and other support staff couldn’t be better or more helpful, in my experience. I feel fortunate to have found such a place to attend to Max’s medical need. |
